Autumn is approaching, and we want to warm you up with a dose of fresh and urban comedy from the heart of London. So, in October, London Calling is visiting Rijeka, Zagreb and Osijek where we always receive a very warm welcome. Only this time, we bring not 3, but 4 London based comics. Let's take a short trip down memory lane, to our debut in Rijeka, in May, where more than 400 comedy fans enjoyed and supported our comics in HKD Sušak. And not long ago, in the middle of the summer, in the beautiful surrounding of 'Trsatska Gradina', in a majestic castle's courtyard overlooking the dazzling city of Rijeka, our comics were welcomed for a second successful time.
In Osijek, London Calling has never felt more at home. It's witty comedy thirsty audience fits perfectly with the purpose of London Calling and deeply impressed the comics. Overwhelmingly, for all four shows, 2 in January and 1 in March and May, tickets were sold out in a London Calling record time of an hour and a half! We hope that the October tour doesn't differ.
Last, but certainly not least, Zagreb. We launched the London Calling Comedy Club almost a year ago for the first time in Zagreb. Since then, we have changed many venues such as the 'BP club', 'Bulldog Club' and the concert hall, Lisinski. For the Autumn/Winter season, we have found our home in the newly opened 'Ham Ham Centre', the club that reminds us of some modern and urban comedy clubs in London.
Now, meet our Mega-Funny line up!
HEADLINE ACT: Adam Ethan Crow (UK)
The most experienced comic in this line up, Adam Crow is not only a comedian, but is an actor, TV presenter, photographer and former model. He has under his belt 15 years of experience with hundreds of gigs in clubs, music and comedy festivals. He has been praised by comedy genius Ricky Gervais as "Really Funny!" and described as "an entertaining and skillful comedian" by Time Out Magazine. Adam's humour sometimes takes you to the routines of everyday life, or to the darkest corner of the human soul. Comedy Beast Magazine says, "He's a breath of fresh air to a darker sense of humour. His timing and delivery are testament to his success."
In his acting career, Adam has played a role in a couple of British TV dramas:
The Dream Team (Sky One) Casualty (BBC 1) Trust (ITV) The Leaflet (BBC 2) The Bill (ITV) Lovejoy (BBC 1) and The Pirate (Sky).
OPENING ACT: Simon Feilder (UK)
Unlike many comedians, who have appeared on TV after performing in clubs, Simon’s career went in another direction.
Simon Feilder was first on our screens as a TV presenter for ‘Big Breakfast’, on the British Channel 4. Quite soon he got his own show called ‘Feilder’s Dreams’ where he hosted many top names from the music and film industry.
Since diving in headlong into the world of stand-up comedy, Simon has quickly become a top contender in many competitions such as BBC New Comedy Awards, Amused Moose Talent Quest, Laughing Horse New Act, Bath New Act, Leicester New Act and Jongleurs Comedy Callback.
MID ACT: Elena Procopiu (UK/RO)
Until now, the London Calling Middle act slot was reserved for Croatian comedians or young comedians from former Yugoslavia. This time we have decided to give this slot to an act from the UK. London is a thoroughly multicultural city and Elena is a great example of this. Elena has gigged up and down the country, bringing hilarious references from her ethnic background and mixing them with her original routines. She has taken part in two competitions, ‘The Laughing Horse’ and ‘So you think you’re funny’, and has taken part in the ‘World War 2010’ comedy battle representing Romania. Unfortunately, due to previously scheduled events in back London Elena will only be able to gig in Zagreb and Osijek. We promise our audience in Rijeka she will be back soon.
MC: Danny Ward (UK)
The host role of our comedy tour in October has fallen into the safe hands of the British comedian Danny Ward. His observational humour is always upbeat and his easy-going style makes it simple to click with the audience. He started comedy late in 2008 and has quickly established himself as one to watch. He has hosted many competitions and shows such as ‘So you think you’re funny’ and the ‘Reading Comedy Festival New Act’ Finals in 2009 and 2010.
