London Calling is proud to announce the first ever Slovenian Tour! We are delighted to be sending three London based comics, supported by one of the best Croatian stand-up comics, to represent London Calling in our debut tour in this country. Slovenia was one of the first countries of Former Yugoslavia to create a professional comedy circuit and proudly has two strong annual comedy festivals. Namely, Panč, with a 4,000 strong audience, and another event involving a large corner of the Lent festival in Maribor, devoted to comedy, with 16 nights worth of brilliant stand-up comedy. In addition, each month there are around 20 comedy evenings across the country where audiences can admire more than a dozen professional comics and an ever-growing number of newcomers.
Quite an impressive comedy scene for a country of 2 million. We hope that London Calling Comedy Club will bring an additional zesty international flavour to the Slovenian comedy circuit. We’ve teamed up with the best promoters and comedians in their respective cities: In Maribor, London Calling partner is Slavko Škvorc, a promoter and actor who is responsible for the comedy stage at the Lent Festival. Our comics will be performing in the beautiful theatre of 'Narodni Dom'. In Ljubljana, the audiences of the ‘Sity Theatre’ will welcome the comics. A good friend of London Calling, and arguably one of the best comics in Slovenia, Tin Vodopivec is our partner in Ljubljana. Tin is also taking London Calling to the City of Celje, where the comics will perform in the 'Mladinski Center'. So Ladies and Gentlemen, meet the Comedians:
HEADLINE ACT/CLOSING ACT: Ron Vaudry (CAN) Ron Vaudry has already featured twice in the London Calling Comedy Club, both times as the Headline Act. Undoubtedly he is a Stand-Up Legend whose career spans over 30 years. For Comedy lovers, this fact is quite astonishing: In his younger days in Canada, Ron gigged and drank with comedy legend Bill Hicks. Today, you can find Ron performing in one of the finest clubs in London with his thought provoking sense of humour. Listen to Ron's interview:
OPENING ACT: Javier Jarquin (NZ) "He's gonna be a star" After being a rising star in New Zealand, Javier decided to move to London to start his career from scratch. In a very short period of time, he established himself as one of the best New Zealanders within the UK comedy circuit. As well as his award winning stand-up comedy, he has a variety of acts in comedy, such as the hit 'Card Ninja', a magic act with a twist. He comes on stage with a brilliant and hilarious Ninja outfit and uses the cards as weapons and for tricks. Javier has performed his 'Card Ninja' in the Melbourne Magic festival. Listen to Javier's interview:
MIDDLE ACT: Domagoj Pintarić (CRO) No stranger to the Slovenian Comedy Circuit, Domagoj has performed in Slovenia, in Croatian and even Slovene, but now, for the very first time, he will speak in English to the Slovenian Audience. This undoubtedly versatile edgy comedian has many topics to talk about, but mostly tackles the topics that make him angry, such as gender differences, political correctness and mediocre people.
MC: Matt Price (UK) The boxer-built comic has been on the circuit for more than 8 years. With his 'Hagrid' like appearance, he almost doesn't need a microphone as his strong voice manages to reach great lengths. A brilliant comic, improviser and storyteller who beautifully interacts with the audience which is not to be missed.
