YIANNI AGISILAOU (Aus) HEADLINE ACT
Yianni is an Australian comedian who has an established and growing fanbase in London. His electric material, sharp improvisational mind and smooth crowd control skills make him one of the most in-demand acts and MC’s in the UK.
Beginning stand up in 2000 by winning an open mic competition at his first gig, Yianni was quickly awarded ‘Best New Act’ in 2001 by university activities coordinators around Victoria. Inspired, Yianni entered Raw Comedy, a nationwide comedy talent search. By the time he had reached the National Final and performed in front of a crowd of 1500 people at the Melbourne Town Hall, he knew he had found his life’s calling.
After a regrettable attempt at a legal career in 2003, Yianni decided that comedy was his passion and decided to embark on it full time. To this end, he moved to England in August 2004, which is when his comedy story really started to gather steam.
He regularly performs at Comedy Festivals worldwide including Edinburgh, Melbourne, Amsterdam, Johannesburg, Leicester and Brighton.
His shows have been critically acclaimed gaining 4 star reviews. Respected industry website Chortle said “it takes real skill to pull of a show of such simple ideas” and “sharp social commentary to compare favourably with Woody Allen”
He has made numerous television appearances including ITV’s “Take the Mike”, Paramount Comedy’s “The World Stands Up” and ABC’s “Raw Comedy” (Australia)
DANA ALEXANDER (Can) OPENING ACT
Canadian Comedy starlet Dana Alexander was a refreshing addition to the Edinburgh Fringe line-up this year. Her comedic style has been described as 'smart, irreverent and revolutionary'. Currently Canada’s hottest emerging young comedienne, Dana began her comedy career at the tender age of 18 and quickly became a regular fixture on the Canadian Comedy circuit, resulting recently in her own one hour comedy special on the country’s number one Stand-up show Comedy Now. Dana draws her material from raw life experience with an original and hilarious outlook. This is a comic you do not want to miss.
One of Canada’s most outspoken and hilarious women has packed her bags and is now in the UK. The only black female comedian on the circuit in Canada, Dana's comedic style is both refreshing and irreverent, drawing her material from her diverse lifestyle, her gay friends and her crazy Jamaican family. This will be a lady not to be missed.
Originally from Edmonton, quickly became a regular fixture in Canadian Comedy Clubs, universities and festivals. She was voted in the “Best Discoveries” by Toronto’s renowned Now Magazine in 2006 and has since been included in their "Best Of" issues three years in a row, easily making her one of Canada’s hottest emerging young comedians.
Her Canadian TV credits include Halifax Comedy Festival (CBC), Video on Trial (Much Music), women’s only network The Slice Network and The Comedy Channel (XM Satellite Radio) and this past year her national half hour comedy special was aired on CTV.
NAZ OSMANOGLU (UK) MC
Winner of the Amused Moose Laugh-off Competition, Chortle Best Newcomer Nominee 2010, and Runner-up in So You Think You're Funny, Naz Osmanoglu, has hit the London comedy circuit running. Already a fringe veteran with acclaimed, irreverent sketch trio WitTank, he is now diverting his angry Anglo-Turkish energy to stand-up as well as sketch comedy.
Naz was selected to be one of the new stars on Laughtershock for BBC Three, a hybrid of stand up and sketch comedy , and returned to Edinburgh in 2010 as a performer in The Comedy Zone, the fringe’s longest running new talent showcase and with another sellout show with Wittank.
Naz took his first solo show 1000% Awesome to the Edinburgh Festival this year and returned with another show from Wittank.
“He is a name to remember, however difficult that might be. Very confident, very original and tightly performed”
Richard Herring
“Spirited, witty and individual… more energy than a dozen Duracell bunnies”
Steve Bennett, Chortle **
“Naz is a hard gigging, high performance comedy machine”
**Tommy Holgate, The Sun
